The holidays are coming - my favorite time of year to eat, drink, be merry and look amazing while doing it all. No matter how long your night of celebrating lasts, your makeup should last right along with you. Having wrapped up the Emmys and gearing up for movie awards season, I'm thinking of some stay-put glamour tips to help your face look fresh throughout the night.
To begin, I like to use a pre-foundation makeup primer. A nice smooth canvas is always the way to go, and primer fills in the small lines and pores, giving you a crease-free flawlessness and smooth, even area for an application that lasts. After applying foundation, be sure to set it with a powder so your coverage won't budge.
For lips that last through air kisses and multiple champagne glasses, fill your lips in completely with your favorite liner. Many people take the term “lip liner” literally, but your lip pencil can do more than just line your lips. Follow with lipstick or gloss, and your lips are set. The wax from the pencil makes a nice base of underlying color, and completely filling in your lips means you'll never have a ring-around-the-lips look.
Whatever your color palette, the key to lasting eyes and cheeks is texture. Skip oil-based creams in favor of stains and powders. Try layering a powder blush over a stain for maximum wear. Set your pencil eyeliner with a sweep of matching shadow so the wax won't budge and smudge. Right now, I love the special lid primers as a base for shadows to stick to. As a finishing touch, add waterproof mascara.
Now party on till the morning light!
