Why not sell clothes that real women can actually wear? I know, I know -- it’s a wacky concept. But after seeing the collections that designers have sent down the runway for spring 2010, is it any wonder why American women aren’t handing over their plastic? Take one look at these collections, and you can understand why most women in America would conclude, “I’ll think I’ll just shop in my closet this season.” It seems that when times are tough, designers get more creative -- in other words, more ridiculous. Here’s what I’m thinking after viewing the latest collections.
Is it too much to ask …
- For skirts and dresses to be long enough to bend down in? I know that the runway is hyped up for theatrical reasons, but 2 inches below the crotch leaves a little too little to the imagination.
- For V-necks not to be so plunging? Most women do need clothes that allow for a bra. In fact, the average bra size in America today is 36D!
- For the transparency trend to just disappear? We wear clothes to cover our bodies, not expose them.
- For dresses and tops to have sleeves? Three-quarter length or longer? The over-40 crowd doesn’t want to expose arm flap … even those who are size 2.
- For more clothes to be work-appropriate? Between the short shorts and the minidresses, the capris and the plunging necklines, the halters and the long, flowing evening gowns, what are we supposed to wear to the office?
- For shoes to be neither pancake-flat nor 7 inches high? Isn’t there something in between?

No way is Charla right about these clothes fitting the above requirements, I looked at the website and was just about to give up when I read this review of a dress bought there by Unia, NYC:
Can’t walk!
I don’t know who can walk in this dress. The bottom of the dress has almost no room to move your legs. Since the fabric is not a stretch material, it’s impossible to walk in this dress. This is definitely a design flaw. Also, fabric is very thin. It’s definitely not worth $200. Returning. Very disappointed.

Not at all what the over 40’s want, perhaps Charla Krupp can write a bestseller called ‘Cash 4 Comment’ next time?
I agree Rouge Team, there is no in between for anything. We are not all pre-pubescent girls, which is what most of it is suitable for?????
