MH: What is Spring hair all about?
RX: I'm from the era of Madonna, I'm from the 80's, so I used to colour and perms and everything so I am bringing this back into the salon! It will come back into our salon because I'll make it! But I will draw the line at incredibly curly perms.
MH: And what about new season colour?
RX: I'm really enjoying all these really cool colours and we're putting pinks through the roots, oranges through the roots and as you can see a lot of strong colours are coming through. But with the hair it still feels sexy and shiny and healthy, we're sort of having a lot of fun with colour at the moment but it we are bringing colour back into our salons.
MH: When you're looking at colour, for a 'normal' person, how will you adapt it to your clients?
RX: More pastels, apricots, softer blues and on dark haired girls we're using beautiful magenta or mahogany. We're changing the colour from the roots to the ends. Pink for blonde hair, soft apricot on the ends and we're having lots of fun with it. Oh, and it's also about a bit of regrowth.
MH: As far as trends, internationally, you did that amazing short hair-do for Cate Blanchett. Tell us about short hair. Why you did and how you did it?
RX: I said to Cate "Let's go short" and she said "go for it". So we cut it and it was quite nerve racking. I hoped she would love it and the feedback was really great. When she debuted it, when she was wearing that killer Armani silver suit to the Tony awards, she was hot!
MH: With short hair, many of us are nervous about cutting hair off. What'd the trick?
RX: It is hair. It grows! It is a big part of you, but you can make it look special no matter how short it is. I say take the plunge and don't look at the downside as it will grow back!
Hi, My name is Susan, I am a male, I am changing sex to female, I wear woman’s clothing full time. I wear wigs as I cannot get my hair to grow long, it just grows bushy and afro. What can I do to get length rather than thickness?
